Somerset, KY – TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) is excited to announce two (2) school houses in southern and eastern Kentucky are featured in the August edition of Kentucky Monthly Magazine.
The article “Kentucky School Houses” features five school houses from across the state. Benham Schoolhouse Inn, Benham and Middletown School, Berea made the list. The Benham School was originally built in 1926 as a coal-camp school. The building now serves as a hotel, complete with a banquet hall. Read more »
Somerset, KY – TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) unveiled the first of 15 Tour Mate units at Cumberland Falls State Park. The Tour Mate is a self guided audio tour guide that is environmentally friendly. The unit is powered by a hand crank and does not require electricity. Each unit features a welcome to the Region from Congressman Hal Rogers and information about three local or regional attractions. The unit was unveiled earlier this month during Kentucky Tourism Council’s Annual Summer Outing. The unit at Cumberland Falls will be placed on the railing near the falls. Read more »
Somerset, KY – Southeast Tourism Society (southeasttourism.org) hosted its annual marketing college July 26-30th on the campus of North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, GA. Jeff Crowe, President/CEO and Maggie Bill, Community Awareness Coordinator for TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) attended the week-long conference. Read more »
Somerset, KY – TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) excited to announce the addition of Josh Wheeler to the TOUR SEKY team. Wheeler has been hired as the Special Projects Coordinator, which is a new position for the organization. Wheeler will coordinate special projects for the organization including its new children’s activity book, Trial Head Signage and many new exciting programs. He will also be working with community leaders to help promote tourism in the 47 county region. Wheeler is a Pulaski County native and still calls the area home. Read more »
Somerset, KY – Work is underway to clear the area that will soon be home to the “Big South Fork Gateway Circuit of Trails”. TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) held a community meeting March 4, 2010 in Monticello, KY to discuss the project. Nearly 20 community members came out to support and learn more about the project. Read more »

Somerset, KY – TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky is excited to announce Southeast Tourism Society (southeasttourism.org) named the World Chicken Festival in London, KY as a top 20 event in the southeast.
The festival will be held September 23-26, 2010 in downtown London. Festival highlights include a wing eating contest, and fried chicken served fresh from the world’s largest frying pan. The festival also features many attractions including a parade, carnival and car show.
